Working Principle
- Pig Launcher: This is the section where a device called a ‘pig’ is sent into the pipeline for maintenance or cleaning purposes. The pig cleans the inner surface of the pipeline or collects data.
- Pig Receiver: This is the section where the pig coming from inside the pipeline is safely stopped and the gas or liquid pressure is released in a controlled manner.
Working together, these two pieces of equipment ensure that the inside of the pipeline is cleaned of sludge, paraffin, water or foreign matter, thereby maintaining flow efficiency and process safety.
