Pressure Vacuum Relief Valve (PVRV)
Pressure vacuum relief valves (PVRVs) are critical safety devices used in atmospheric storage tanks containing fuel, chemical, and petrochemical products.
They maintain internal tank pressure balance and protect the tank from deformation, leakage, or explosion risks caused by excessive pressure increase or vacuum conditions.
Operating Principle
A PVRV provides two-way protection:
Pressure Mode:
When internal tank pressure exceeds the preset limit, the valve opens and safely vents excess pressure.
Vacuum Mode:
When internal pressure drops below ambient pressure, the valve automatically admits air to restore equilibrium.
Through this dual-action protection, the structural integrity of the tank is preserved, vapor losses are reduced, and process safety is ensured.
